Borrow for any on-chain action — in one click, without leaving the page you're on.
AREA is a browser extension and a mobile wallet app that lets you borrow money for on-chain actions: depositing, swapping, sending, paying. No detour to go get funds first.
What it is
Every wallet shows what you hold. AREA shows what you can spend — your balance plus what you can borrow against it, as one figure — and lets you act on it.
Say you want to deposit into phoenix.trade but you don't hold USDC. With AREA you do it right inside phoenix.trade's own interface: click the Lava deposit button instead of the site's, and the borrow and the deposit happen together. You never leave for a second venue to get the USDC first.
Not just on-chain composability — UI composability. Bundling a borrow in front of an action is the on-chain part. Putting that one-click action inside the interface you are already using is the part nobody else does.
The one-click promise
spendable = balance + borrowable, treated as a single pool. The borrow is bundled atomically into the very same action — one signature, one bundle, all-or-nothing.
There is never a two-step "borrow into your wallet, then go do the thing." And the extra step isn't only a manual dance for the few who know the trick — most people never know it can be done at all. Borrowing to fund an action is invisible unless you already live in DeFi. AREA turns that hidden, expert-only workaround into one visible click, right where you already are.
The AREA experience
- Connect to a dApp. Pick AREA in the dApp's wallet list, or bring your own wallet.
- Do whatever you came to do — swap, deposit, send, pay. Use the dApp exactly as you normally would.
- Short on funds? AREA steps in. If you don't have enough for the action — not enough USDC, SOL, or TROLL — a borrow confirmation appears (or stays silent, if you've set it that way). If you already have enough, nothing happens; AREA stays out of the way.
- One click, done. If you connected an external wallet, Phantom or Solflare pops up to approve. If you generated or imported a key in AREA, it's already done — no popup. Either way: borrow + action, in a single click.
How it's built: the adapter model
The technical model is like DefiLlama's — an adapter model.
- A public repo holds all the adapters — one per protocol or product.
- The goal is an adapter for every Solana protocol.
- We take pull requests — updates to existing adapters, and new adapters for anything we haven't covered.
Why adapters, and not an SDK
Everything that touches user funds stays in the core — the app and the browser extension — which receive over-the-air updates. Fund-safety-critical code must never live in an SDK that a venue bundles once and then drifts out of date.
CORE · IN-APP · OTA
Stays under our control
Signing, verification, borrowing, bundling, submission. Critical to fund safety. Always current, updated over the air.
ADAPTERS · PUBLIC · PR-ABLE
Describes each venue
How to compose with a given venue's UI and instructions. Open source, community-extendable, no fund-safety logic.
Security
-
Zero-key custodial
AREA never takes custody of your keys. Bring your own wallet, or import a key that stays yours. The app reads balances and assembles transactions, but you approve and sign every one — it cannot move your funds.
-
A clear injection boundary
The code AREA injects into a dApp holds no keys and signs nothing. Everything that touches funds — signing, verification, borrowing, bundling — lives in the core, which checks each assembled transaction against exactly what you asked for before any signature exists, and refuses anything else.
-
Open source
The adapters live in a public repo, open to inspection and pull requests. What composes with your funds is auditable, not a black box.
-
No smart contracts of our own
AREA deploys no new on-chain program. It composes the audited contracts of the protocols it sources from — there is no extra contract to trust or exploit beyond the ones you would already be using.
Functions
Borrow & manage
-
Loan aggregation
Every borrow is quoted across lenders — Kamino, MarginFi, Lavarage, and more — and executed wherever the terms are best, across a wide range of assets. You don't pick a protocol; you pick an amount, and AREA routes to the best loan. Borrowing is the adapter model too: each lender is a source in the same public repo.
-
Loan overview
Every loan you hold, in one interface — see them together, repay, or top up, without opening each protocol's own app.
-
Optimize Loan — an hourly agent that manages your debt
Every hour, an LLM agent scans your loans together with your connected-wallet balances and returns the best next move. Its rules, in priority order: avoid liquidation first, cut interest cost second, and beyond those it applies its own judgement. Whatever it proposes, you authorize — in V1 the agent only observes, reminds, recommends and prepares the repayment; you approve each one (automatic repayment is a later capability, gated by explicit permissions and a cash-buffer safeguard). It reaches you as a banner in the extension that opens a prefilled repayment flow.
- Balance-triggered repayment. When you carry outstanding USDC debt and new spendable USDC lands — received, withdrawn from a perp venue, swapped into USDC, or bridged over — AREA prompts you to repay: "You received 1,500 USDC. You owe 900 USDC. Repaying now saves ~X in interest." → Repay 900 · Choose amount · Remind me later. It respects a minimum cash buffer you set ("repay 900, keep 600 available"), and ignores what isn't genuinely new cash: freshly drawn loan proceeds, transfers between wallets on the same Lava account, repayments themselves, dust deposits, and unconfirmed transactions.
- Time-based reminders. Even when no new USDC arrives, AREA keeps your debt in view: periodic reminders, maturity reminders where a loan has one, and separate urgent alerts when health or liquidation risk worsens. Repay now, choose an amount, snooze, set a target repayment date, or change the frequency — you can mute ordinary reminders without ever muting the risk alerts. Every reminder opens a prefilled repayment flow.
- Rebalance to dodge liquidation. When a loan nears liquidation and you're short on cash, avoiding liquidation doesn't have to mean finding USDC — the agent can recommend borrowing against a healthier position to partially repay the at-risk one, trading a sliver of interest for safety. Still one click, still your call; proposed only when it genuinely lowers your overall liquidation risk.
- Which loan first. With several USDC loans open, the agent recommends which to repay first — weighing maturity, health risk, all-in borrowing cost and your preferences — and explains the call.
-
Auto-rebalancing
Delegate a set of loans to a vault PDA and let it keep them healthy. When one loan's health factor drops, it borrows from a healthier loan to cover it — rebalancing across your positions automatically, so a dip doesn't become a liquidation while you sleep. Non-custodial: the vault acts within limits you set, and you keep ownership.
Spend anywhere
-
Send
Spend your balance plus your borrowing power as one figure. If you hold enough it's a plain transfer; if not, AREA borrows the shortfall and bundles it in front of the send, atomically. The recipient just receives a normal transfer.
-
Overlay — the UI-composability layer
AREA's one-click action, rendered inside a dApp's own interface so you act without leaving the site. It is fully adapter-driven:
- Blend in, or stand out. An overlay can be styled to match the host site so it reads as a native control, or to stand out as a distinct Lava panel — the adapter decides.
- Every protocol customizes its own. Because adapters are the model, each protocol defines its own overlay: where it mounts (a deposit modal, a swap panel, a trade tab), how it looks, and what the one click does there.
- Inline or floating. It can be spliced into the host's own component (a modal, a tab), or offered as a draggable floating button that's always available.
-
dApp browser (mobile app)
The mobile wallet carries a built-in dApp browser, so the overlay and one-click reach every site on mobile, not only the desktop extension.
Your keys
-
Bring your own wallet — no new trust
Import a private key, or connect the wallet you already use. You get AREA's borrowing power without moving your funds to a brand-new wallet app you'd have to trust.
-
Connect anywhere
AREA registers as a Wallet-Standard wallet, so it appears in any dApp's wallet list next to the wallets you already have.
- …and more, as adapters land.
User journeys
Swap
Spend USDC — balance plus borrowable — for any token. Pick the output and AREA covers any shortfall with a borrow, routing the swap in one action, all in the same bundle.
Deposit into a venue
Fund a venue like phoenix.trade in a single atomic click: AREA borrows the collateral and completes the venue's own deposit under the hood — its real deposit, not a copy — without leaving the site.
Off-ramp
On an off-ramp site — Paytrie, MoonPay, and the like — connect your wallet or use the send function. Instead of the site's own deposit button, click the Lava deposit button: AREA borrows the funds and delivers them to the off-ramp, so you cash out without pre-funding.
Commerce
Pay for goods and services with your balance plus borrowing power, in one click at checkout — the borrow is settled in the same action as the payment.
…and more
Any venue where the missing step is "I need funds here, now" is a candidate — one adapter away.
Future plan
-
Cross-chain liquidity
The spendable = balance + borrowable model, extended across chains — and it uses your own money first. If you already hold what you need on another chain, AREA brings it across automatically. Only if you don't, it borrows — using your coins on other chains as collateral — and crosses the funds over. What you can spend is never limited by which chain your money happens to sit on.
-
Wallet of wallets
Add every wallet you have — Phantom, Solflare, MetaMask, Rabby — to AREA, then connect AREA to your favourite dApps. Forget which chain you're on: connect AREA and see all your spendable balance across every chain at once. Your ETH memecoins and your Robinhood stocks become spendable USDC, on Solana.
